“Accidents can be prevented if everyone is committed to responsible behaviour, strict compliance with traffic regulations and sustained advocacy for road safety culture.

“The Special Marshal Scheme has provided an important platform through which respected members of the society can contribute their influence, experience and goodwill toward the noble cause.

“The personality being honoured has shown commendable interest in community development, public service and I am confident that the new responsibility would further strengthen the campaign for safer roads,” he said.

Oladayo called on drivers to drive safely on the road, ensure their vehicles are road worthy, be good road users and consider other road users for everyone’s safety.

“Drivers should not monopolise the road, not drink and drive, not use phones while driving, must use seat belts and monitor their speed limit, as well as focus while driving.
