Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has urged the 2026 media team to work with sincerity, patience, and unwavering dedication in serving the state’s pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.
The Director-General of the board, Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo, gave the advice during a familiarisation meeting with the media team ahead of this year’s Hajj operations. The meeting was held at the board’s headquarters in Dutse, the state capital.
He explained that, the assignment is a sacred trust that the team should not take for granted.
He noted that, the assignment include pre-hajj publicity, orientation and enlightenment, comprehensive news coverage as well as timely dissemination of information to people of Jigawa state and the country in general on hajj activities both in nigeria and the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He stressed the divine nature of the team’s selection and the need to protect the welfare of Jigawa’s pilgrims throughout the exercise.
Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo called on members of the media team to enhance proactive communication and ensure timely clarification of developments affecting the state pilgrims in order to achieve the desired objectives.
According to him, the media team would be assigned into various committees to ensure the successful execution of the 2026 Hajj operations.
He commended Governor Umar Namadi for approving the media team, calling on the members of them to discharge their duties diligently, with a strong sense of responsibility and the fear of Allah.
While shedding more light on 2026 Hajj slot adjustment to states as directed by National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON, the DG pointed out that jigawa state has recorded a tremendous success in uploading all intending pilgrims details to the portal before the deadline.
He further explained that, the board had successfully completed the compulsory medical screening exercise of all the state intending pilgrims at Dutse general hospital in line with the guidelines of Saudi authorities.
Labbo added that, the medical screening is also directly tied to visa issuance requirements for the 2026 pilgrims.
Responding on behalf of the members, the General Manager of Nigeria Television Authority NTA Malam Muhammad Ibrahim and Malam Lawan Iliya Dutse of Jigawa state television commended the state government and the board for approving the slots of the media team.
They promised to justify the confidence reposed in them by discharging their various responsibilities with professionalism, dedication and the fear of Allah.
