The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State has concluded its ward and local government congresses where party executives were elected for the 361 wards and 34 local government areas of the state.

Various party chieftains and members who spoke to Radio Nigeria during the exercise expressed satisfaction with its peaceful conduct and massive turn-out of party members to take part in the exercise.

Briefing newsmen on the modalities for the conduct of the congresses, the Chairman of the Congress Committee, Yakubu Bashir, said they adopted consensus based on the provisions of the Electoral Act as Amended, and resolution by the party’s stakeholders at national and state levels.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Congress Appeal Sub-committee, Sadiq Mohammed, explained that only six petitions were received from aggrieved party members after the congresses which he said the committee will resolve based on constitutional provisions of the party.

In his remarks, the Chairman Local Organizing Committee of the congresses, Alhaji Abdul-Qadir Nasir, maintained that the exercise was credible and reflective of the party’s strong internal democracy.

He described APC as one family that is resolute in its bid to ensure that every party member is treated fairly.
