The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kaduna State Chapter, has commended Governor Uba Sani for what it described as significant strides in strengthening the health, education, security, and infrastructure sectors of the state.

The commendation was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of NAWOJ’s first congress meeting for the year 2026 held in Kaduna.

In the communiqué, the Association praised the Kaduna State Government for the induction of 1,800 health workers into the state health sector, noting that the move would greatly enhance healthcare service delivery across communities.

NAWOJ also lauded the recent salary increment for health workers, describing it as timely and a major boost to morale and productivity.

Similarly, the Congress applauded the government for approving salary increases for teachers, stating that the decision reflects a strong commitment to improving teachers’ welfare and strengthening the education sector in the state.

On security, NAWOJ commended Governor Sani for the successful rescue of the remaining 82 kidnapped victims in Kajuru Local Government Area. The Association described the development as a clear demonstration of the administration’s resolve to ensure peace, security, and the protection of lives and property.

The Congress also acknowledged ongoing infrastructure projects across Kaduna State, particularly the construction and reconstruction of roads and drainage systems within Kaduna metropolis and other areas. These projects, NAWOJ noted, are people-oriented initiatives aimed at improving living conditions and addressing environmental challenges.

While applauding these efforts, the Association appealed to the state government to expedite the completion of ongoing road projects ahead of the rainy season. It specifically called for the speedy completion of the 19-kilometre Millennium City Ring Road, citing its importance in easing traffic congestion, boosting economic activities, and improving connectivity.

Furthermore, NAWOJ called on the Kaduna State Government to actively involve the Association in the formulation and implementation of policies and programmes targeted at promoting the welfare, development, and rights of women and girls in the state.

The Association reaffirmed its commitment to gender-sensitive development, responsible journalism, and constructive engagement with stakeholders to support sustainable development in Kaduna State.

The communiqué was signed by Aisha Gambo, Chairperson; Lilian Okachi, Secretary; and Aisha Mansur Hashim, Member of the Communiqué Drafting Committee, and e-signed by Hadiza Bello Abdullahi, Secretary of NAWOJ Kaduna State Chapter.
