Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has organised a train-the-trainer workshop for facilitators drawn from all 27 local government areas to prepare them for training the state’s intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj.
Speaking during the one-day capacity-building workshop for local government Hajj preachers, the Director General of the board Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo said the facilitators were selected from each of the 27 local government areas of the state ahead of the forthcoming Hajj exercise.
He said the facilitators would in turn train the intending pilgrims at designated centres across their respective local government areas of the state.
Ahmad Umar Labbo explained that, the workshop was organized to educate the officers on the responsibilities reposed on them by the state government.
According to him, the gesture was to ensure proper training of the state intending pilgrims on the basic tenets of Hajj.

Labbo, pointed out that, proper education of pilgrims would prepare them to conduct the Hajj in accordance with the teachings of Islam and be good ambassadors of the state and the country in general.
The DG pointed out that, the workshop will give the intending pilgrims the opportunity to know proper and acceptable hajj rites.
He further explained that, the board would assigned the facilitators into various committees to ensure the successful execution of the 2026 Hajj operations.
Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo further explained that, as pilgrims guides, they must stay close to the pilgrims for any assistance both in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia when the need arises.
While commenting on preparations,the DG noted that, the board had already collected and submitted some of the international passports of intending pilgrims into the visa processing system.
He described the sponsoring of the facilitators from all the 27 local government areas of the state to Saudi Arabia by Governor Umar Namadi as commendable.
Labbo, urged the participants to have fear of God in the discharge of their responsibilities, adding that, the board had recorded tremendous success in 2025 hajj operations.
The Pilgrims Boss said, the kingdom of Saudi Arabia has given Jigawa state various awards which include the sacred black cloth that drapes the Ka’aba known as Kiswa among others which were all handed over to Governor Umar Namadi at government house Dutse.
Earlier, the Director of Enlightenment and Propagation of the board, Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu Hassan, addressed the officers on the responsibilities during the 2026 hajj operations.
Radio Nigeria reports that papers were presented by Dr Abdulkadir Saleh Kazaure, Dr Zakariyya Sa’idu Kandi, Malam Auwal Muhammad Ringim, Malam Isma’il Basirka among others.
Some of the participants who spoke to Radio Nigeria commended the Director General of the board, Ahmed Umar Labbo for organising the workshop.
They also called on the intending pilgrims to cooperate with them in order to achieve the desired objectives.
