The Director General of Special Services, Kano State, Major General Sani Muhammad, has called on stakeholders and members of the public to support the families of fallen Nigerian military personnel who paid the ultimate price in the defence of the nation.
Major General Sani Muhammad made the appeal during a press briefing held as part of activities to commemorate the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, stressing the need to continually honour the sacrifices of officers and men of the Armed Forces who lost their lives in the line of duty.
He noted that the annual event serves as a solemn reminder of the bravery, patriotism, and unwavering commitment of Nigeria’s security personnel who have worked tirelessly to safeguard peace, unity, and stability across the country despite prevailing security challenges.
The Director General further disclosed that the Kano State Government has put in place various welfare programmes aimed at supporting widows and dependants of deceased service personnel, in line with its commitment to social responsibility and humanitarian support.
Armed Forces Remembrance Day is observed annually on January 15, providing an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the sacrifices of fallen heroes and to reaffirm collective support for the Armed Forces and their families.
