The General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Abubakar Wase, has urged recruits of the 89th Regular Recruits Intake to pursue further professional courses after passing out, in order to enhance their competence and ensure steady career progression.
He gave the directive at the Beating of the Retreat ceremony held in their honour at the Depot Nigerian Army Parade Ground in Zaria.
He noted that military training is a continuous process that spans an entire career.
Major General Wase said the event marks the conclusion of the intake’s training activities ahead of their passing out parade on 13 December 2025.
He commended the training companies for their performance in the competitive events, describing the displayed trophies as evidence of hard work and commitment.
He congratulated award winners and encouraged others to seize future opportunities for excellence.
The GOC emphasized the significance of the ceremony as a moment of stocktaking and recognition for recruits, training companies, and staff.
In his remarks, the Commandant Depot NA, Major General Ahmadu Bello Muhammad, disclosed that 3,439 out of 3,500 recruits who began the training are due to pass out.
He acknowledged the strain on the institution’s resources and expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff and partner institutions for their support and joint training collaborations.
He commended the instructors and staff for their professionalism and dedication throughout the training cycle.
