Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Barrister Sunday Marshall Katung, has officially announced his defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement titled “A New Chapter: A Message of Unity and Purpose,” the lawmaker said the decision was difficult but necessary, following extensive consultations with constituents, stakeholders, family members, and political associates.
Senator Katung explained that his defection was motivated by a genuine desire to serve his people more effectively and to ensure that their voices are heard at the highest levels of governance.
He noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, have shown special interest in working with stakeholders from the zone to deliver phenomenal and epoch making development.
The Senator expressed confidence that the developmental strides of the APC at both state and federal levels reflect a strong commitment to inclusion, equity, and progress.
He called on his supporters to remain calm and united, emphasizing that while political alignments may change, friendship and shared commitment to community development must remain unbroken.
Quoting former U.S. President Thomas Jefferson, Senator Katung said political differences should never be grounds for withdrawing from friendship, and he appealed for continued mutual respect and cooperation among all stakeholders.
The Kaduna South Senator pledged to keep communication lines open and to continue working towards a better future for the people of his senatorial district.
