The Chief Of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu has said that the introduction of merit award ceremony in twenty twenty one by the Nigerian Army is aimed at enhancing professionalism reward hard work, dedication and promote heathy competition among Nigerian Army institutions.
He stated this at the occasion of twenty twenty five merit award ceremony held at the TRADOC Nigerian Army Officers Mess Minna Military Cantonment in Niger state.
Represented by the Deputy Chief Training Exercises, Major General, Ifeanyi Otu, the Chief of Army Staff said it was also to propel and stimulate junior officers to strive for excellence in a bid to enhance professionalism inline with the command philosophy of transforming it’s soldiers into a well motivated combat ready force that can discharge its duties diligently.
Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support to Nigerian Army, Minister of Defence, Chief of Defence Staff, for relentless support and the TRADOC family for working assiduously throughout the year to ensure successful conduct of this ceremony.
In his remarks Outgoing TRADOC Commander, Major General Kevin Aligbe who was represented by the Chief of Training and Doctrine TRADOC, Major General Peter Okoye, thanked the Chief Of Army Staff for his unwavering support to TRADOC, Nigerian Army in all its training activities and for graciously approving this ceremony as part of efforts to institutionalized a culture of excellence in the Nigerian Army.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Captain Hakeem Suleiman, said the award has set a bench mark that will challenge officers and soldiers to pursue their career saying that this recognition will spur them to do more and applauded the Nigerian Army for achieving greater height.
