National Assembly has been advised to strengthen its oversight functions on Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government to address alleged injustices in their operations.

A Public Affairs Analyst, Alhaji Idris Aliyu Kaura, gave the advice in an interview in Kaduna.

Alhaji Idris expressed concern over reports of lopsided recruitment of personnel by some government organisations, describing it as a violation of the Federal Character Principle enshrined in the nation’s constitution.

According to him, the recruitment of over forty percent of personnel from a particular geo-political zone, while others receive as low as six percent, contradicts the constitutional principle and should be urgently reviewed by lawmakers.

He further expressed hope that elected leaders across the country would shun sentiments in the discharge of their constitutional duties to promote democratic governance and justify the mandate given to them by the electorate.
