The ancient city of Kano metropolis witnessed a colourful and massive turnout as thousands of Muslims trooped out in beautiful attires to mark the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

The celebration, known as Maulid Nabiyy,(Takutaha) brought together men, women, and children from across the state who converged on various locations in the city.

Organized in groups, the celebrants moved in processions while chanting melodious songs of praise in honour of the beloved Prophet.

Major streets were filled with processions carrying banners and flags, while Islamic scholars delivered sermons extolling the virtues of Prophet Muhammad and calling on the faithful to emulate his exemplary lifestyle of humility, peace, and compassion.

To ensure a hitch-free celebration, security agencies mounted heavy presence across strategic points in Kano metropolis.

Patrol vehicles and Personnel of the Police,Civil Defence Corps, and other security outfits were stationed around gathering venues to maintain law and order.

Several clerics who spoke to Radio Nigeria on the occasion described the Prophet’s birthday as a moment of reflection and a reminder for Muslims to strengthen their faith and commitment to the teachings of Islam.

Residents also expressed joy over the peaceful conduct of the celebration, which has become an annual tradition in Kano, one of Nigeria’s most prominent centres of Islamic scholarship and culture.
