The Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences, Bayero University Kano (BUK), has finalized preparations to host its maiden international conference.
The Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Dr. Abubakar Tabi’u, disclosed this during a press briefing held at the university.
He explained that the three-day conference is scheduled to take place from Tuesday, September 9, to Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences FEMS theatre, Centre of Excellence, BUK New Campus.
According to Dr. Abubakar, the conference, themed “Transforming Public Policy, Public Finance and Governance for Sustainable Development in Africa: Issues, Challenges and the Way Forward,” is expected to attract over 100 participants from within and outside Nigeria.
He pointed out that renowned scholars in public policy, finance, and governance will deliver presentations aimed at addressing critical issues of sustainable development amidst prevailing economic uncertainties.
“The conference will also focus on how emerging strategies can be harnessed to improve efficiency, effectiveness, organizational sustainability, and inclusive growth across Africa,”
He further explained that the theme was carefully chosen to reflect the current realities of Africa’s socio-economic landscape, while urging the media and relevant stakeholders to support the success of the conference.
Others present at the briefing included the Head of Department, Dr. Usman Abdul; Dr. Saidu Ahmed Dukawa; Professor Fatima Ibrahim; Dr. Umar Usman; and Malam Adam Garba, among others.
