Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to supporting initiatives that address gender-based violence and safeguard the rights and dignity of young people in the State.
The State Commissioner for Youth Development, Ndanusa Shehu, stated this when he received members of the Africa Rise Right Initiative (ARRI), a gender-based violence (GBV) reporting system, in his office in Ilorin .
He commended the organisation for its bold advocacy and technological approach to reporting GBV cases, adding that the initiative aligns with the Ministry’s drive to create a safer environment for youths, especially women and girls.
The Commissioner explained that the state governor’s unwavering stance against all forms of violence and his inclusive leadership, will continue to prioritize youth development, gender equality, and the protection of vulnerable groups in the State.
Shehu noted that the current administration’s policies have laid a strong foundation for sustainable youth engagement and social protection.
He emphasized that the state government will continue to welcome credible platforms that provide support and redress for victims of violence while empowering youths to speak up and take action against abuse.
In his remarks, the Team Lead of the Africa Rise Right Initiative (ARRI), Jimoh Bawa, said that the platform was designed to provide safe, fast, and anonymous reporting channels for survivors and witnesses of gender-based violence.
He expressed appreciation to the state government readiness to partner in tackling GBV and reiterated the organization’s commitment to strengthening awareness, access to justice, and rehabilitation for victims across the State.
