Hundreds of households and farmers are in a state of devastation following a flood disaster that struck Badau village, Darhela ward and Butuku in Toma ward of Bodinga Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The flood submerged thousands of farmlands, houses, and ravaged the local market in Dandin-Mahe community of Shagari LGA, leaving residents in distress.
According to preliminary figures, more than three thousand farmlands were destroyed in Badau and seventy five in Butuku.

Following reports from the Bodinga LGA Council, a joint assessment team from the Sokoto State Emergency Management Agency , SEMA and the National Emergency Management Agency ,NEMA Sokoto Operations Office visited the affected communities to ascertain the level of damage.
The delegation was led by the Director of Relief and Rehabilitation, SEMA Malam Mustapha Umar, alongside NEMA’s Planning Officer in Sokoto, Mr.Tukur Abubakar.

The disaster followed a four day torrential downpour that happened at regular intervals in the area.
The inhabitants of the area appealed to the state and federal governments for urgent assistance to cushion the hardship faced by his people.
The SEMA and NEMA teams assured the communities that their findings would be compiled and forwarded to relevant authorities for prompt humanitarian response.

The team also visited flood-affected areas in Shagari Local Government Area where the flood affected four villages, market, and seventy four farmlands.
A building also collapsed during the flood, killing seven-year-old Jafar Sani.
