Rector of the Kebbi State Polytechnic, Dakingari, Dr. Abubakar Boyi Dalatu, has attributed the institution’s steady growth and development to the unwavering support and assistance by the Executive Governor of the State, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu.
He made the remark during a News briefing at the temporary site of the institution, Dakingari, in Kebbi state.
Dr. Dalatu said such support and encouragement have reinvigorated the academic pursuit of the Polytechnic and improved its students’ enrollment into the institution.
The institution which was established 14 years ago with a mission to provide quality technical education to the people of the State and beyond, acknowledged that under the administration of Governor Idris, the Polytechnic has expanded training in cutting-edge technology.
According to him, the new technology includes vehicle conversion from petrol to CNG, and established a Skills Development Centre approved by the NBTE to offer 18 accredited trades which range from fashion design, electrical installations, plumbing, livestock farming, welding, and ICT repairs.
“With a ₦500 million TETFund intervention, the Polytechnic has invested heavily in fabrication and workshop facilities, enabling students and staff to design, build, and test innovative projects,”the Rector said.
Dr. Dalatu disclosed that, the institution would soon open Study Centres across Kebbi State, bringing education closer to the people in line with the Governor’s development agenda.
The Rector advised youths, parents, and guardians to take advantage of the life-changing opportunities now available to study in the Polytechnic.
He was confident that, enrolment would continue to rise, adding that students population has grown from 200 to over 500 in a short period, with projections to exceed 2,000 in the next academic session.
The Rector commended members of the management for their dedication towards the progress of the Polytechnic as well as the Commissioner for Higher Education, Abubakar Isah Tunga, and the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi for their timely support.
