Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering a harmonious working relationship with the media.

Governor Yusuf made this known while receiving the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, and members of the NUJ National Executive Council (NEC) who are in Kano for their meeting.

The Governor, represented by his deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, Lauded the NUJ for choosing Kano For the NEC Meeting, stressing that this is a testimony of the cordial working relationship between Kano State Government and the Media.

He said his administration has recorded significant successes in uplifting the well being of the populace ,and also ensuring that must of the campaign promises were being fulfilled .

“These promises include infrastructure development, education, health, agriculture, and youth and women empowerment,” he said, assuring that the government would continue to roll out more laudable projects to improve the lives of the people.”

The Deputy Governor further commended the NUJ for its role in upholding democracy, promoting accountability, and educating the public, noting that a vibrant media is essential for good governance.

“Our government is media-friendly and will continue to provide all the necessary support to ensure the press operates in a free, responsible, and enabling environment,” he added.

NUJ President Comrade Alhassan Yahaya appreciated the Kano State Government for hosting the NEC meeting and praised the state’s developmental strides, which the delegation observed during an inspection tour of the metropolis.

“We are overwhelmed with the progress so far in terms of infrastructural transformation taking place in Kano,” he said.

Alhassan lauded the Kano State Government for supporting the media ,and solicited for the sustainace of the gesture.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, welcomed the NUJ executives and wished them fruitful deliberations during the meeting, emphasizing the importance of strong collaboration between the government and the media.

The NUJ NEC meeting is expected to deliberate on key issues affecting journalism practice in Nigeria, including Media Welfare, Safety of Journalists, and the union’s strategies for safeguarding Press Freedom.
