Troops of Operation FANSAN Yamma (OPFY) have neutralised dozens of terrorists in a coordinated air and ground assault at Makakkari general area of Gando Forest in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The operation, which took place on August 10, 2025, followed credible intelligence that a large number of terrorists loyal to the late Halilu Buzu and Alhaji Beti had converged in the forest to plan a reprisal attack on Adabka and Nasarawan Burkullu farming communities in Bukkuyum.

Media Information Officer of Operation Fansan Yamma OPFY, Captain David Adewusi, said intelligence revealed that, the planned assault was to avenge their recent defeat in clashes with security forces and hybrid units.

He explained that in a follow-up joint ground operation, troops under Sector 2 intercepted and eliminated fleeing terrorists attempting to escape from the scene of the aerial bombardment.

Captain Adewusi assured law-abiding citizens that terrorists and other armed non-state actors would find no hiding place in the North West and parts of the North Central Zone.

He reiterated the commitment of the troops to pursue the adversaries anywhere they gather or move and urged residents to cooperate with security forces by reporting suspicious activities, noting that timely information is vital to protecting communities and ending the menace of terrorism and banditry.
