Governor Namadi of Jigawa State says addressing poverty is essential to accelerating economic growth and creating employment.

He stated this during the state government’s initiative, Government and Public Engagement, known as Gwamnati Da Jama’a, held in Ringim Local Government Area.

Malam Umar Namadi stressed the importance of skills training and creating an enabling business environment to achieve these goals.

He therefore called on elected officials, political office holders, business leaders, and other wealthy individuals to empower those around them to drive growth and development.

During the occasion, the state Commissioner for Humanitarian and Special Duties, Auwal Danlladi Sankara, disbursed 50 million naira in empowerment funds to over 250 youths and women.

According to him, the personal empowerment program was designed to complement Governor Umar Namadi’s efforts in youth employment, job creation, and poverty alleviation in the state.

He further explained that, the cash empowerment was intended to help some beneficiaries expand their businesses while enabling others to start businesses of their choice.

He said, each beneficiary received 250 thousand naira and also promised to continue supporting Governor Namadi’s 12-point agenda, which is designed to foster prosperity and development in Jigawa State.
