The Jigawa State Government has completed all 26 road projects inherited from past administrations and initiated 48 new ones covering 976 kilometers across the state.

This was revealed in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Hamisu Mohammed Gumel, who highlighted that only the Maigatari–Babura road remains unfinished due to added extensions.

Despite challenges such as hyperinflation and naira devaluation, Governor Umar Namadi’s administration achieved significant progress in road infrastructure since coming into office in 2023.

Out of the 48 new road projects, 30 have reached advanced stages of completion. Notably, the Sundimina–Birnin Kudu road, awarded at N11.5 billion, was completed within seven months.

The 47-kilometre Sara–Gantsa road and 15 feeder roads are also progressing, with most at 70 to 80 percent completion.

Similarly, works include Dutse capital road networks, Bulangu and Gandun Sarki township roads, and rehabilitation of flood-damaged routes like Zakirai–Gujungu–Hadejia and Basirka–Gwaram bridges.

Mr. Gumel said the administration is also fixing failed road sections inherited in poor condition from previous governments.

He added that the Namadi administration inherited N82 billion in liabilities, with N50 billion already paid by the current government.
