Kauru Youth Ambassadors KYA, in Kauru LGA of Kaduna State, have expressed serious concerns over the performance of Barnabas Danmaigona, the member representing Kauru Constituency in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, accusing him of failing to provide meaningful representation since his election.
In a public statement titled ‘From Hope to Hoax’ and signed by Junaidu Ishaq Maisalati, the group criticized the lawmaker for what it described as ‘political dormancy, lack of constituency projects, and a disconnect from the community.’
The statement lamented that the people of Kauru had placed high hopes in Danmaigona’s leadership, but instead, their expectations were met with silence and underdevelopment.
It also condemned his political alliance with Mukhtar Chawai, another politician criticized for poor performance, saying such partnerships reveal a trend of “complacency over competence.”
KYA expressed disappointment over what they called “tokenistic handouts of five or ten thousand naira,” describing them as distractions, not development, and an insult to the dignity of the people.
The group urged the constituents of Kauru to rise above political apathy, demand better representation, and refuse to be swayed by temporary giveaways.
They pointed to lawmakers like Hon. Shehu Yunusa of Kubau, who has reportedly prioritized engagement and development, as examples of what true representation should look like.
Calling for political consciousness and collective action, the statement challenged youths and voters in Kauru to hold their leaders accountable, insisting that elected office is a duty, not a reward.
KYA declared that Hon. Danmaigona has had his chance, and the people are still waiting, not just for promises, but for real, visible change.
