Federal Government Retired Workers have given ten-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to pay all their arrears to avoid second round of protest nationwide.

Co-Ordinator of the Retirees in the South-West Geopolitical Zone Mr. Mukaila Ogunbose gave the ultimatum at a stakeholders’ meeting in Lagos.

Mr. Mukaila Ogunbote expressed dismay over payment of old pension rate this month by the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate PTAD which contradicted earlier assurances to pay the new rate following the last protests in Lagos, Ibadan and Abuja over such issues.

The co-ordinator vowed to mobilize for the massive protests which should be supported by all pensioners of the Federal Government to pressurise the relevant authorities to settle accumulated benefits in the interest of the public service.

Mr. Mukaila Ogubote called for the removal of the Finance Minister Wale Edun, Accountant General of the Federation for the breach of the appropriation act which provided funds for the payment while stressing the need for anti-corruption agencies to intervene and prosecute offenders.
