Kwara state government says normalcy has been restored in Lafiagi community where Protesters targeted NDLEA office over recent anti-drug trafficking operations and carted away exhibits.
In a statement Senior Special Assistant to Governor AbdulRazaq on Security Matters Alhaji Muhyideen Aliu says a high-powered government’s security delegation visited Lafiagi following early morning tensions that culminated in an attack on the office of the NDLEA and a foiled attempt to torch the Emir’s palace.
According to it the tension in Lafiagi was related to different community issues, including security operations targeting hard drug dealers.
It explains that the protesters burnt three vehicles and motorcycles, released three suspects, and carted away substances seized from the dealers.
It points that the miscreants also attempted to attack the Emir’s Palace over claim of his refusal to stop the NDLEA from arresting the suspected drug dealers and smokers.
The statement maintains that the soldiers and other security agencies have been able to restore calm in Lafiagi town.
It cautions residents of the state against taking laws into their own hands.
