Residents of Batakashi Community in Garki Local Government Area of Jigawa State have commended the Aliko Dangote Foundation for its food donation to the community.

Some of the residents who spoke with our correspondent expressed delight over the gesture and prayed for God to reward the donor.

Malam Umar Abdullahi, one of them, said the foundation has brought solace to the community, which was afflicted by fire incidence recently, which razed down about 45 houses.

Another beneficiary, Malam Usman Auwal, also expressed delight over the gesture, saying that since the occurrence of the incidence, the community has never been the same.

He commended Jigawa state government and Dangote Foundation for their support to the community, praying for peaceful coexistence in the community.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Garki Local government, Alhaji Adamu Kore, flagged off the distribution of the 500 bags of 10kg rice and commended Aliko Dangote foundation, for it’s tireless efforts in assisting vulnerable communities in this pressing time.

He explained that, the palliative will relieve the hardship of the people of the Batakashi Community who were affected by the fire incidence.

“We are very delighted over Dangote and Jigawa state government’s support, because the donation brought soccure to a hundred families, not only in Jigawa state but across the country in general” Kore said.

In his remarks, the Acting Executive Secretary, Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Muhammad Murtala, said Dangote foundation brought 40,000 10 kg bags of rice to Jigawa state for distribution to the poor and vulnerable.

Maiunguwa, who is also the Director Administration and Finance of the Agency, said under the Namadi’s administration, the agency has distributed palliatives to communities affected by disaster and abject poverty.

The Representative of Aliko Dangote Foundation, Alhaji Mustapha Umar said the foundation offer palliative support to communities across Nigeria, with a view to relieve the vulnerable communities.

He said, “Dangote is always willing to assist Nigerians through the Aliko Dangote foundation, which was designed to carryout philanthropic tasks.

  1. Radio Nigeria reports that, the Foundation donated about 500 bags of 10 kg rice and 100 mats to Batakashi community in Garki area of Jigawa, which was affected by fire incidence.

The distribution exercise was facilitated by the State Emergency Management Agency SEMA.
