The Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar, has urged public office holders and wealthy individuals to be of value to their communities, states and the country at large.
He made the call during the turbaning ceremony of the Katsina State Commissioner of Environment, Hamza Sule Faskari, at his palace in Daura.
The Emir noted that the essence of public office is improving the socio-economic lives of the people and serving with patriotism and the fear of God.
He urged public office holders to give back to the society by setting up foundations that will assist less privileged persons such as orphans, widows and internally displaced persons.
Alhaji Faruk Umar who described Daura as the cradle of Hausa civilization, said the Emirate only gives traditional titles to persons that have contributed to the development and social welfare of the people.
“This is our own way of appreciating their contributions and encouraging them to do more, our society needs interventions from all quarters, including government, NGOs, philanthropists and members of the public”, the Emir said.
The turbaning ceremony was attended by the Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, former governor Aminu Masari, Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, and many federal and state lawmakers from Katsina, Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa and Zamfara.
