Bayero University Kano (BUK) is gearing up to celebrate its 39th Convocation Ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of its students.

Speaking while briefing journalist on the preparations of the Convocation ceremony, the Vice Chancellor Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas said the ceremony, scheduled to take place from February 12 to 15, 2025, promises to be a momentous occasion, honoring the achievements of its students and distinguished individuals.

He said the first day of the ceremony will see 4,402 graduands from eleven faculties receive their degrees, diplomas, and certificates.

“This marks a significant achievement for the university, which has been committed to providing quality education to its students.”

According to professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, On the second day another 4,367 graduands from seven faculties will graduate.

The highlights of this day include:
“176 First Class degrees, 275 PhDs, 2,590 Masters Degrees and 535 Postgraduate Diplomas. These impressive numbers demonstrate the university’s commitment to academic excellence and its students’ hard work and dedication.”

The Vice Chancellor explained that the Convocation Lecture will be delivered by Khalil Sulaiman Halilu, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NACENI, with title: Innovation and Entrepreneurship: A Pathway to National Development.

” The Chairman of the Convocation Lecture is the Hon. Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Uche Jeofrey Nnaji.

“On the final day, the university will confer Honorary Degrees on two distinguished Nigerians:

Col. Sani Bello (Rtd) and Alhaji Auwalu Abdullahi Rano.

“Additionally, the 39th Convocation will witness the awarding of Emeritus Professor titles to three distinguished retired Professors: Professor Garba Dahuwa Azare, Professor Julius Afolabi Falola and Professor Musa Mohammed Borodo”.
