Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State says the resumption of NYSC orientation activities marks a significant milestone in the quest to restoring confidence and stability in the state.

 

He stated this at the swearing- in ceremony for the 2024 Batch C stream II Orientation Course at the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

 

Dr. Lawal noted that, Zamfara State felt the impact of skilled service offered by corps members in all sectors of the state economy.

 

” Corps members have made selfless contribution in critical areas such as education, health and agriculture among others across Zamfara state”.

 

According to him, his government has put in place adequate incentives to ensure that it retained most of the corp members posted and make the State their new homes.

 

The Governor assured commitment to guarantee the well being, safety and security of the corps members where ever they might be posted for their primary assignment.

 

Dr. Dauda Lawal who noted that business activities was picking up following the new direction of his administration, added that in the past twenty months, significant achievements has been made in building and upgrading infrastructures.

 

In a remark, the NYSC Coordinator in Zamfara State Mr Mohammed Lawan Ahmad said five hundred and ten corps members have so far registered for the service year.

 

He said the training programme was designed to equip them with necessary environmental, social and practical skills for the service.

 

“We thank Dr. Dauda Lawal (Gamji Gusau) for his full support to making the orientation exercise a success. Our Governor loves the youths and has continued to demonstrate this with his strong commitment to the optimum welfare and security of Corps Members”.

 

“In the course of the training, the corp member will be expose to tradition and cultural lectures on the state, citizenship and leadership programme, drill as we as skills acquisition among others”.

 

Mr Lawan Ahmad urged the the corps members to maintain a high sense of discipline, tolerance and proper understanding of the essence of the orientation course.

 

“I challenge you to work towards distinguishing yourselves right from the Camp. Do not be a passive on-looker, relate freely with your colleagues, be actively involved in all Camp activities and contribute your quota to the success of the Orientation Course”.

 

The NYSC Coordinator commended Governor Dauda Lawal for approving the renovation of the permanent orientation camp in Tsafe local government area of the state.

 

“However, I want to use this medium to appeal to His Excellency to direct the prompt payment and review in the allowances paid to corps members. We have quite a considerable number of corps members serving as Doctors, Nurses, Med Lab Scientists, Teachers, Engineers among others in various sectors of the state. In view of the current economic situation, I am appealing for the payment of their stipends commensurate with their colleagues in other States”.

 

Earlier, Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Shehu Dalijan assured safety of the corps members.
