Ten people have lost their lives, while six sustained various degrees of injuries following a road traffic crash in Kaduna.

Federal Road Safety Corp, Kaduna Sector commander, Kabir Yusuf Nadabo confirmed the incident while speaking to Radio Nigeria shortly after conducting rescue operations in Kaduna.

The Sector commander explained that the unfortunate road traffic crash occurred around seven o’clock in the evening at Kasari village along Kaduna-Abuja expressway.

Kabir Yusuf Nadabo submitted that the accident involved two vehicles a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number GDW190×A experienced a head on collision with a truck with registration number SMK 151×N.

He noted that preliminary investigation revealed that sixteen people were involved with 8 males and 8 females stressing that as at the time of rescue operations six persons were confirmed dead on the spot others have been conveyed to Hospital at Rijana.

“Later in the hospital another four people dead, bringing the number of those who lost their lives to ten”, he added.

The Sector Commander confirmed that wrongful overtaking and dangerous driving were causes of the crash.

Kabir Yusuf Nadabo therefore enjoined Transport unions to redouble efforts in preaching safe driving for the motoring public to achieve accident free movement.

The Kaduna Sector commander further assured FRSC’S readiness to ensure that all sections of the Abuja-Kaduna highway that have barricaded were opened to abide by follow your length rules.
