The Southern Kaduna Youth and Students Forum -SKYSFOM has petitioned the Senate over the ministerial nomination of former Governor Nasiru Elrufai on issues bothering on peace, abuse of power, divisive tendencies,l and violation of human rights among others.
The petition which was already received by the Senate was signed by the president of the association Comrade Shedrack Danladi
Comrade Shedrack Danladi stressed that all present and past leaders with questionable character should not be allowed in the corridors of power because the country needs healing at this point in time.
“distinguish members of the 10th Assembly, Nigerians hold you in great esteem, and is expecting alot from you to put right all that is wrong with our political system,as you are that agent of change we are hoping to turn things around.
“we call on you to be critical in your screening of all nominees ,and we strongly advised against the endorsement of Nasiru El’rufai as a Minister of the Federal Republic”,the petition said.
The president said the SKYSFOM was a group of people whose interest is in promoting peace, unity and progress of the country ,hence the need for airing their voice in ensuring only respectful leaders with proven track records assume position of leadership.
“Nigeria is in dire need of leaders who will demonstrate and promote compassion, empathy, inclusiveness, justice, fairness and unity not the reverse,as the past governor of Kaduna State has demonstrated”
The petition in strong terms therefore want the senate not to confirm the former Governor due to his antecedents of dividing and not promoting peaceful coexistence among the people.
