PLANE Organizes Workshop On Effective Monitoring Of Education.

Partnership for learning for all in Nigeria (PLANE),has organized a capacity building workshop for members of Kano state accountability forum on education (K-SAFE),for effective monitoring of basic education sector.

K-SAFE is a coalition of civil society organizations, government officials and journalists, which targets
providing strategic direction, and a coherent plan to direct the accountability in the education sector.

Some of the participants who spoke to Radio Nigeria, Bashir Bello, Hauwa Murtala Zahradeen, Khadijah Ishaq Bawas and Bilkisu Ado Zango described the workshop as apt.

They pointed out that, strengthening education service delivery requires advocacy for partnership, engagements, reforms, and monitoring.

Earlier in her remark, the program facilitator, partnership for learning for all in Nigeria (PLANE), Hajiya Umma Muhammad pointed out that, the training would increase the capacity of members of the forum, to engage government and influence change in the education sector.

She highlighted that, using evidence based advocacy tools informed by a robust monitoring system, would go a long way in tracking, and reporting findings from the monitoring activities.

Hajiya Umma, charged participants to use the knowledge gained judiciously, to ensure a more inclusive and effective education system in Kano.

In his presentation titled: Results chain and results measurement framework: the program facilitator Dr. Adeboye Adeyemo defined a performance baseline as qualitative or quantitative information, that provides data at the beginning, or prior to the monitoring period.

He identified factors to consider when selecting indicator targets such as,clear understanding of baseline starting point, funding and level of personal resources expected throughout the target period, political concerns and institutional capacity.

The two day capacity building workshop attracted journalists, teachers, CSOs, government officials and all relevant stakeholders in the education sector.
