President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says Nigeria will be self sufficient in food production during his tenure.

The President stated this at the groundbreaking ceremony of the 84-kilometer, N169.7 billion naira Bida to Minna road in Kakakpagi, Katcha Local Government Area of the state, where he praised the extensive road construction efforts in the state by Governor Bago.

Represented by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, President Tinubu said that the Federal Government would continue to partner states that bring development closer to their people to achieve maximum results.

According to the President, for governments at all levels to grow, there must be synergy and a cordial relationship between them to flourish.

He explained that the Federal Government would support the Niger state government to ensure that the desired prosperity is achieved.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu who said road construction would save lives and create avenues for greater economic development saying that as a traditional title holder of Jagaban Borgu since about 20 years ago, I am also a son of Niger and will be part of anything that will bring development to the people of the state.

In his remarks, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago said, “As encapsulated in our pact with Nigerlites under the New Niger Agenda, this groundbreaking ceremony marks the beginning of the construction of the 84km standard dual-carriageway with street lights, interchange, and underpass at both ends of the road, fulfilling our promise.”

According to him the groundbreaking ceremony we are witnessing today is a paradigm shift from the usual lip services of the past because the project is of greater economic value to Nigerlites.

Mohammed Umar Bago further said this singular act demonstrates his administrations  commitment towards building world-class road infrastructure that will endure over time to make Niger a reference point in terms of infrastructure and socio-economic development in Nigeria.

He said, ”The Minna-Kataeregi-Bida road is of immense economic importance to the region and the nation at large, it serves as a major link between the industrial hub of Lagos and the western parts of Nigeria to the Northern parts of the country.

The Governor further noted that just yesterday, the Niger Government signed a landmark MoU  with the China Overseas Engineering Group Co to build a Light Rail line, hydro dam, urban water supply, irrigation, inland port, mass housing amongst others in the State.

National Chairman of APC Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said the party is proud of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger state and described him as a shining example of good governance.
