Voting has ended in most polling units across Katsina State with the process mostly described as smooth and peaceful.

High voter turnout was recorded in most polling units with women constituting more than half of the voting population.

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Yakubu Lado cast his vote at Danmarke ward in Kankara Local Government Area which recorded high voter turnout.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after casting his vote, Senator Lado alleged that thugs had invaded many polling units in the Local Government Area and carted away some ballot boxes while police had withdrawn his security details thereby exposing him to danger.

However, Governor Aminu Bello Masari while reacting to the PDP candidate’s allegations, described them as mischievous.

Speaking to newsmen in Masari ward of Kafur Local Government Area, the governor said the opposition party was making those allegations in anticipation of its impending defeat at the polls.

Also speaking after casting his vote in Radda ward he described the election as peaceful.

Meanwhile collation has commenced at the various Local Government Areas as results for the State House of Assembly elections are expected from the later hours of today.
