A nongovernmental organization named Action Aid has trained over ninety election observers from Kano, Kaduna, and Gombe states on effective ways of monitoring elections.

Speaking during the workshop held in Kano, the Project Coordinator, Mr. Frank Abu said the objectives of the training were to train Election Observers with the needed knowledge on proper monitoring of Elections.

” We are here in Kano to train election observers so that they will observe the 2023 elections Appropriately”.

Frank Abu maintained that the contribution of election observers towards achieving credible elections was very vital, hence the training was very timely.

“Election observers would be there to check for several things including the timing, arrival of logistic materials and the security, as well as observing the general conduct of the forthcoming elections “.

He added that the training would also acquaint the observers with the requisite knowledge on various provisions of the new electoral amendment act which take into cognizance the inclusion of people with disability and other provisions of the new electoral act.

Jamila Musa from Kano and Sadiq Bako from Kaduna state were participants of
the workshop, they said it would go a long way in enhancing their capacity for effective monitoring of the Elections.
