Unknown thugs have stormed Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal’s convoy with hail of stones in the state capital while returning from campaign tour at Silame and Wammako Local Government Areas of sokoto state.

Radio Nigeria Correspondent in the state reports that two vehicles in the Governor’s convoy were seriously damaged as a result of the attack

However, the Governor and PDP Gubernatorial candidates of Sokoto state Mallam Saidu Umar Ubandoma, Kebbi State Gubernatorial candidate Gen. Aminu Bande rtd, the Deputy Gubernatorial candidate of Sokoto state, Hon. Sagir Bafarawa and other dignitaries all escaped unhurt.

Responding on the attack, Governor Tambuwal told journalists at the close of a stakeholders meeting with political appointees in the state that already investigation was ongoing and some of the attackers have been arrested and would soon be prosecuted.

Tambuwal said Government cannot condone any form of violence in Sokoto state and warned that those arrested would be used as deterrent in a bit to forestall any future attack in the state.

He said Government cannot afford to toy with the peace in the state and urged all political leaders in Sokoto to eschew violence and to advise all their supporters, to go out and campaign peacefully and not to perpetrate violence.
