Zamfara Police Command Parades 16 For Homicide, Banditry

Zamfara state Police Command has paraded sixteen suspects of banditry, cattle rustling, kidnapping, culpable homicide, armed robbery, car snatching and other offences.

Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the command SP Shehu Mohammed who paraded the suspects on behalf of the commissioner of Police, CP Kolo Yusuf said the suspects were arrested by the police tactical Squads.

SP Shehu explained that, two bandits which include one Surajo Almandawi ‘m’ 30 years old and Bage Mohammed ‘m’ aged 40 years were arrested by police tactical Operatives along Gusau – Funtua Road acting on intelligence information during a confidence building patrol, saying the arrested bandits were among the Bandits terrorising villages of Kotarkwashi, Damba and some outskirts of Gusau the state Capital.

He noted that the suspect, Surajo Almandawi revealed that he was involved in several attacks for kidnapping and cattle rustling in more than ten (10) communities of Gusau, Tsafe and Bungudu local government areas and collected millions of Naira as ransom as well as rustling of unspecified number of cows.

SP Shehu also disclosed that, police detectives attached to anti violence Squard have arrested one Kabiru Idi ‘m’ 35 years, Dan-hauwa Kalla ‘m’ 31 years and Majami iliya ‘m’ 27 years old for kidnapping and killing of a six year old boy after collecting ransom.

The police image maker also said, police tactical Operatives acted on intelligence information have arrested a syndicate of 3 car snatchers and recovered Beretta pistol and one Hyundai vehicle from the suspects who also confessed to commiting the crime.

Similarly, the police has repelled attack on communities under Dansadau emirate of Maru local government area and recovered 2 AK-47 rifle and 35 rounds of live ammunition.

The PPRO, SP Mohammed Shehu who added that the command had also succeeded in the arrest of Bello Mohammed ‘m’ 40 years of Gadar Baga area, Gusau for criminal conspiracy, shop breaking and theft, noted that, the suspects had stolen clothing materials Worth seven hundred thousand Naira and also made away with five hundred thousand Naira cash from the shop.

All the suspects were facing interrogation after which they would be prosecuted.
