AEDC Disconnects Niger State MDAs, Government House

Niger state government house , ministries departments and agencies have been disconnection by the Abuja Electricity and Distribution Company AEDC over its inability to honour the agreement reached between them.

Public Relations Officer AEDC Minna office, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed confirmed this in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Minna.

Alhaji Adamu Mohammed said Niger state government is indebted to the tune of one point three billion naira , but after two separate meetings with AEDC , it brought two hundred and seventy four million naira including the current billing charges to AEDC.

He explained that since September this year after the first payment, it was agreed that Niger state government will subsequently be pay the remaining balance to avoid further disconnection which was not forthcoming.

All government hospitals, water board , state secretariat , office of the Secretary to the state government among others have been disconnected by AEDC, thereby bringing an untold hardship to patients who were on admission at government hospitals.

This is the second time in less than two month that Niger state government house , ministries , departments and agencies were disconnected by the Abuja Electricity and Distribution Company AEDC for not settling its electricity bill.

Most of the people interviewed in Minna the state capital appealed to Niger state government to as a matter of urgency expedite action in settling the AEDC to avoid undue embarrassment to the state.
