Hajiya Saadiya Umar Farouq Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development at the distribution exercise

Over two thousand Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, have been supported with food and non food items in Zamfara State by the Federal Government under the National Commission for Refugees Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Umar Farouk disclosed this while flagging off the distribution exercise at Tsunami IDPs camp in Gusau , the state capital.

She said the gesture was part of the Presidential directives to reduce hardship and sufferings been experience by the IDPs and their host communities.

Saadiya said the packages comprises of grains, groundnut and palm oil, sanitaries, bedding and clothing materials, baby wears, mosquito treated nets among others.

In addition to that, the Minister also flagged off free medical outreach and eye care to over one thousand persons under the Project of Total Health of the Commission.

She said they also renovated and equipped the school library for IDPs and their host community in Tsunami area under the Project of Educate All of the Commission aimed at providing quality education to IDPs.

The distribution ceremony was attended by the Zamfara State Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs Haj. Fa’ika Ahmad, District Head of Unguwar Dan-Baba (Tsunami) Alhaji Mainasara Bello, Permanent Secretary ministry of Education, Alhaji Kabiru Attahiru among others.
