The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Kwara state chapter, has appealed to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazq and members of the state House of Assembly to speed up process required to have financial autonomy in the local government councils across the state.

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin , NULGE, president, Comrade Oyinlade Adeleye, called on the governor to break his silence on the issue.

According to him Kwara state should align itself with states that had passed the bill granting local government financial autonomy such as Abia, Delta and Kogi.

Comrade Adeleye described local government autonomy as the catalyst for grassroots development, adding that the financial autonomy in the council areas will help tackle the challenges of food shortage and prevalent insecurity.

The NULGE boss appreciated members of the National Assembly for their post amendment intervention geared towards rallying state legislators to vote in favour of autonomy of the local government.
