Federal Government has launched a Data Analytics Visualization Tool, DAVT, a system aimed at supporting surveillance and response at the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, and state public health emergency operation centers.

At the launch in Abuja on Friday, The Director General of the NCDC, Dr. Ifedayo Adetifa, said the aim of the system was to institutionalize data quality management, data demand, and use.

He said it would also create demand for case-based data being churned out via the surveillance outbreak response management and analysis system and mobile strengthening emergency response system.

The Managing Director, Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria, Dr. Charles Mensah said the DAVT system was established through the Strengthening Global Health Security Agenda in Nigeria Project.

According to him, the institute would work with states to ensure that the Data Analytics Visualization Tool becomes operational, nationwide.

The Data Analytics Visualization Tool will be deployed to eight pilot states which are Ebonyi, Ondo, Sokoto, Oyo, Rivers, Kano, and Lagos states as well as the FCT.
