Kaduna State Launches Covid-19 Vaccination Exercise

Kaduna State Government KDSG has Launched Scales 3.0 Covid-19 vaccination exercise and public healthcare services across the State.

Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe while launching the programme at the Government House said SCALES 3.0 was the next iteration of Covid 19 vaccination for all eligible residents.

Dr Hadiza Balarabe explained, the scale was an initiative of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency NPHCDA adopted by the State Government aimed not only to accelerate COVID-19 vaccination but also to ensure that the vaccination is adequately integrated with other Primary Healthcare interventions and public healthcare services across the State.

According to her, the SCALES 3.0 campaign is designed for implementation by using mobile special teams to take vaccination to resident’s doorsteps,

Dr Balarabe noted that would help in addressing the identified implementation gaps in SCALES 1.0 and 2.0, bring more accountability for performance, strengthen electronic data reporting and promote a more robust demand generation.

“It is worth noting that Kaduna State had a significant increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, where we recorded a total of 140 new positive cases in the last four weeks,”

‘Thankfully, the fatality has not changed for the worse. These new cases emerged after a prolonged period of decline attributed to the measures that have been put in place, including fully vaccinating 54% of the eligible residents in Kaduna state” she said”.

The Deputy Governor urged residents to continue to maintain preventive measures to remain safe, stressing that, COVID-19 vaccines were safe.

We must not be reluctant to take the second dose for fear of a repeat of the mild side effects we may have experienced with the first dose”

Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe however called on Local Government Council Chairmen, Traditional and Religious leaders, Community members, the media, and every Resident of the State to lend their support in mobilizing unvaccinated eligible individuals to register and get vaccinated in their Communities.

She appreciated the state EOC and other stakeholders, especially the various LGA Chairmen who have shown great leadership and oversight of PHC service provision, as well as support for the implementation of various state policies on Health.

In her remark, the State Commissioner for Health Dr Amina Mohammed Baloni said, Government had been working since last year to make sure citizens of the state get vaccinated with covid 19 vaccines.
