Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has declared Wednesday first of June 2022 as the first day of Dhul Qa’dah 1443 after Hijira.

This was made known in a statement signed by the chairman Advisory Committee on religious affairs Sultanate council Sokoto, professor Sambo Wali Junaidu in conjunction with the National Moon Sighting Committee.

He said the declaration followed a report from the various Moon Sighting Committee across the country confirming the non Sighting of the cresent of Dhul Qa’dah 1443 after Hijira on the thirty-first of May equivalent to thirtieth of Shawwal 1443 after Hijira
