Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo has emerged the North West Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party.

In a keenly contested election, he beat his opponent, Mohammed Yusuf by 426 to 313 votes.

While announcing the results, Chairman of the electoral committee for North West Congress, Senator Attah Aidoko Alli described the conduct as free and fair.

He commended the delegates and the security agencies for the smooth conduct.

Senator Attah Aidoko Alli explained that other positions from the zone, Secretary, Treasurer,
Organising Secretary, Publicity Secretary, Auditor, Women Leader and Youth Leader were won unopposed through consensus.

In an interview with newsmen on the sidelines of the election, the minority leader of the Zamfara State House of Assembly and the only remaining PDP lawmaker in the House, Alhaji Saleh Usman said that they were excited by the success of the congress.

“We are happy that the event took place. Though it is a spill over from last year, it will not affect the fortunes of the party in 2023,” he said.

The North West geo political zone comprises Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kano, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states.
