A total of thirty nine thousand nine hundred Permanent Voters Card for twenty three out of the twenty five local government councils of Niger state are available for collection.
INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner incharge of Niger state Prof Sam Egwu said this at the end of stakeholders meeting on party primaries held in Minna.
Professor Sam Egwu explained that the Permanent Voters Card of the remainning two local government councils of Lavun and Lapai have not been printed.
According to him INEC office in Niger state has promptly contacted the Voter Registration unit at headqarters Abuja and said as at the time they sent the PVC’s that of two local government councils have not been printed but are expected soon.
Prof Sam Egwu further said Niger state has recorded thirty four thousand invalid registration.
He however explained that Niger state is not the highest but states like Osun and Ogun have the highest number of invalid registration.
On preparation for twenty twenty three general elections INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner Niger state said they are ready since preparation for INEC for election is a process.
He said they have identified lists of activities they need to do on count down to the election each one have time line and sọ far they are keeping to the time line.
Prof Sam Egwu further explained that the purpose of their meeting is to identify new electoral act provisions that relate to political parties and party primaries processes sọ that nobody can say because of ignorance they have run foul of rule of the game.
Legal Adviser from legal department Barrister Jacob Ajuh while addressing stakeholders wants political parties to monitor the conduct of primaries and congresses and imposition of candidates and unlawful substitution of candidates which he said will not be accepted.
