
The Taraba State NYSC Secretariat has joined its counterparts nationwide in prosecuting the 2022 First Quarter National Environmental Sanitation Exercise, which held its first major town cleaning exercise for the year.
The exercise was sequel to the Directive from the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters for State Secretariats nationwide to prosecute the 2022 First Quarter National Environmental Sanitation Exercise.

At a brief flag-off ceremony held in front of the NYSC State Secretariat, the State Coordinator, Mr. Anthony Nzoka informed stakeholders that the Scheme in line with NYSC’s objectives was interested in community-based interventions to improve public health and wellness.

Mr. Anthony Nzoka called on State and Local government authorities to step up sensitization on proper waste disposal practices and reminded the public that a clean environment bears a healthy population, while urging them to imbibe the environmental sanitation culture.
In a remark, the zonal inspector of Jalingo zone, Mr. Luca Kwagi charged the corps members to be dedicated to carrying out the exercise and called for cooperation.
Also speaking, Mr. Danjuma Gambo, the monitoring officer of the NYSC North East Area Office disclosed that the exercise was being carried out in all the sixteen local government areas of Taraba State and charged the corps members to take the exercise with all seriousness to achieve the desired objectives.
On his part, the Chairman of the Jalingo local government council, Hon. Abdul Nasir Bobboji who was represented by the staff officer in the local government, Mr. Sa’idu Ahmadu commended NYSC for the initiative and described it as a move geared towards bringing sanity to the local government and its environs.
Areas covered during the exercise included Mayo-Gwoi Market, Michelin Roundabout, Area Command Junction, and Works Roundabout among other key locations.
