Kano state hisbah board says it has recorded huge success in the fight against prostitution, drug abuse and other societal vices during the month of Ramadan.

Commander general of the agency, Sheikh Dr Harun Muhammad Sani Ibn Sina made the disclosure while inspecting two vehicles loaded with assorted beer and other intoxicants apprehended by the board.

He explained that, the vehicles were taken into custody after tip off by good Samaritans on their way to Kano through kwanar Dangora and Gyadi Gyadi Zaria road in the middle of the night.

Sheikh Ibn Sina maintained that the intoxicants were carefully packaged to conceal their true identity for easy passage into the state.

The commander general said the agency had also intensified campaigns and advocacy visits to enlighten the general public about the dangers of engaging in immoral activities.

He commended the head of anti intoxicants unit and his team for their tireless efforts in mitigating the spread of beer and other harmful drugs in the state.

Speaking earlier, the head of anti intoxicants unit, Malam Jamilu Muhammad Yakasai said they had succeeded in arresting twelve vehicle drivers suspected of smuggling beer into Kano during the holy month of Ramadan.

He pointed out that over two hundred and fifty cartons of the beer are in their custody.

Malam Jamilu Muhammad Yakasai added that the unit would not relent in it’s efforts of ensuring that beer consumption becomes history.
