Former Jigawa State Governor, Dr Sule Lamido has rejected the northern consensus candidates for the presidency come 2023 as announced by the People’s Democratic Party PDP northern elders.
This was contained in a statement signed by the former Governor and made available to newsmen in Dutse.
Sule Lamido expressed shock as the attention of key stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the Northern State was drawn to a report in the Media that some Northern Elders had shortlisted two prominent and deserving aspirants as the party’s consensus Presidential Candidates.
The former Jigawa Governor, one of the founding fathers of PDP and former minister of foreign affairs during the Obasanjo regime explained that having consulted the Party Leaders across the 19 Northern States and FCT, hereby debunked the alleged Media reports saying it’s a personal opinion of those who issued the statement and not the position of the PDP members in the North.
According to Lamido, discussions are ongoing with All the aspirants of the party to have a National Consensus if possible or at least work towards having smooth acrimony free National Convention.
“The position of the Northern Elders is not only injurious to the North but the Northern Aspirants.”~Sule Lamido
