Beggars in Kwara state have complied with the state government’s directive and vacated areas prohibited for street begging in Ilorin, the state capital.

Radio Nigeria investigations showed that the beggars have vacated such areas as Tanke, University of Ilorin road and Gerin- Alimi- Airport road.

A team from Kwara Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA) had last Friday evacuated the recalcitrant beggars from the Gerin- Alimi- Airport road, with a stern warning to them not to return to the spots again.

The agency noted that any beggar who failed to comply with the directive of the state government would henceforth face prosecution.

In her remark, the state Commisssioner for Social Development, Abosede Aremu during her visit to the prohibited areas expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance by the beggars.
