Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) announces the discovery of a new $72.87 million reportedly linked to a former petroleum resources minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The anti-graft agency in a statement on Wednesday said the money was located in a Fidelity Bank account, and Nnamdi Okonkwo, the bank’s former managing director, was arrested in connection with the discovery.

Okonkwo, who is currently the Chairman of First Bank Holdings, was previously probed by the commission over a $153 million and $115 million bribery case involving the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Okonkwo and Charles Onyedibe are currently being held by the EFCC in connection with this new discovery of $72.8 million.
