Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA) says injuries sustained by troops in theatres of operations is a clear demonstration of sacrifice aimed at defending the territorial integrity of Nigeria.

President of the Association, Mrs Victoria Irabor stated this when she led other members on a visit to the 44 Army Reference Hospital Kaduna to donate relief materials to wounded soldiers in collaboration with the National Commission for refugees, migrants and internally displaced persons.

Mrs Victoria Irabor explained that they were at the hospital to show gratitude and support to the wounded soldiers who put their lives on the line for the safety of millions of Nigerians.

The DEPOWA President implored them not to allow the scars limit them, rather keep a positive outlook for the future, while assuring them of the Association’s continued support.

Also speaking, federal commissioner of the National Commission for refugees, migrants and internally displaced persons, Hajiya Iman Ibrahim Suleiman said the unprecedented humanitarian crisis and security challenges had put alot of burden on the security and Armed forces in ensuring peace and stability is maintained.

She assured the wounded soldiers that the commission, in partnership with DEPOWA would continue to render them and their families with all necessary support as it flags off project zero hunger across the country.

In a remark, Acting Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Colonel Ndudi Stephen Onuchukwu said over the years, the hospital had witnessed improvement in structure and processes.

While assuring that the doors of the hospital is open for more collaborations, the Acting Medical Director pledged that the hospital would continue to render quality healthcare services to both civil and military patients.

Some of the items donated included wheelchairs, hospital consumables such as gloves, cotton wool, spirit among others.
