Kano State Hisbah Board says it has apprehended two women suspects for stealing clothing materials and kitchen utensils at Kantin kwari and kofar wambai market in Kano municipal local government area.

The Commander General of the Board, Sheikh Dr. Harun Muhammad Sani Ibn Sina made this known during an interview with journalist in Kano.

He said the two ladies, Hadiza Musa and Rukayya Shu’aibu were arrested after a trader in the market noticed that three ankara materials were missing from his collection after one of the women indicated interest in buying his wares.

He explained that, after careful scrutiny by Hisbah officials attached to markets, three new Ankara wrappers were found concealed underneath Hadiza’s clothes while kitchen utensils were found on Rukayya who confessed to have stolen them from Kofar Wambai market before moving to kwari market where they were arrested.

The two suspects Hadiza and Rukayya who spoke to Radio Nigeria confessed to the crime, saying that they came to Kano from Katsina to visit a relative and decided to visit the two markets despite the fact that they don’t have money.

They two women pleaded for leniency and promised not to engage in any act capable of tarnishing their image claiming that this was the first time they have engaged in such act.

The Kano State Hisbah Board said it would hand over the two women to relevant authorities after concluding investigation and reiterated it’s determination in eradicating all forms of vices.
