The Saudi Arabian government has supported the upgrading of a Contact Centre domiciled in the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA headquarters in Abuja.

The Contact Centre receives distress calls from members of the public for emergency response.

Inaugurating the centre, the Director General of NEMA, Alhaji Mustapha Ahmed said the agency was repositioned to handle emergencies.

Alhaji Mustapha explained that the Saudi government has provided payment for two years maintenance of the centre as well as procurement and installation of equipment at the facility.

In a remark, the leader of the Saudi delegation from King Salma Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, Mr. Nasser Al-Subair was to strengthen bilateral relations between both countries.

In the past, the Saudi humanitarian centre donated food items to over one million IDPs in the North Eastern part of Nigeria.
